What does fasting mimicking diet mean?

  • Eating a low-calorie, low-protein, vegetable-centered diet about 5 days a month
  • A method of tricking the body into thinking it is fasting by consuming about 800 kcal per day without starving.
  • Almost similar effects to intermittent fasting

Introduction to research

The study was conducted by researchers at the USC Leonard Davis College of Geriatrics in California, USA.  Studies have shown that fasting mimicking diets significantly reverse biological age.

Experimental methods of research

  • 100 men and women aged 18 to 70 participated.
  • Participants followed a fasting mimicking diet for 5 days for 3 to 4 months, followed by normal eating for 25 days.
  • Consume plant-based foods such as energy bars, snacks, teas, and soups while on a fasting-mimicking diet.
  • Take supplements to avoid deficiencies in vitamins, minerals, and essential fatty acids

Experiment result

  • Analyzing participants' blood samples: reduced insulin resistance and average blood sugar levels
  • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) analysis: reduction of abdominal and liver fat
  • Statistical Analysis: Reverse your biological age by an average of 2.5 years (this does not mean you look 2.5 years younger on the outside, but how well your cells and tissues function)

healthy people aged 20 to 70 try a fasting-mimicking diet two to three times a year.

Based on this, the researchers suggested that healthy people aged 20 to 70 try a fasting-mimicking diet two to three times a year.
