When dieting, what and how much you eat and how much you exercise are important.  If you neglect what you eat, your hard work may go to waste.  In this post, we will look at three foods that are misunderstood as diet foods.

Food misunderstood as diet food 1. Roasted sweet potatoes

  • Sweet potatoes have different glycemic index depending on how they are cooked.
  • Based on 100g, raw sweet potato 111kcal, steamed sweet potato 114kcal, roasted sweet potato 141kcal
  • Raw and boiled sweet potatoes have a glycemic index of around 50, and roasted sweet potatoes have a glycemic index of around 100.
  • When you eat food with a high glycemic index, the glucose in your blood turns into fat and accumulates in the body.
  • At night, metabolism slows down and sugar from sweet potatoes easily accumulates in the body.

  • Salad dressing is high in calories.  If you spray too much, it may interfere with your diet.
  • Caesar dressing has 370 kcal per 100g, Thousand Island dressing has 400kcal per 100g.
  • If you eat about 50g of dressing on a plate of salad, you already consume more than half the calories of about 300kcal.
  • To see the diet effect, it is recommended to consume vinegar-based dressing (calories 88.2 kcal per 100g of balsamic vinegar)
  • Fruits effective for weight loss: blueberries, prunes, apples, pears, strawberries, etc.

  • Fruits are high in sugar, so if you eat a lot of them, you will gain weight.
  • ‘Fructose’, the sugar in fruit, is quickly digested and absorbed, causing a rapid rise in blood sugar levels.
  • Eating fruit after a meal raises blood sugar levels rapidly, stimulating insulin secretion from the pancreas and promoting fat synthesis in the body.
