romhidrosis.  Why body odor occurs

Pathological hyperhidrosis occurs in various areas, including the face, armpits, palms, and soles.  The amount of sweat per day is up to 8 times more than the average person.  They are sweating so much that their dress shirt gets soaked.  Sweat comes from sweat glands.  Originally, clean water without color or odor comes out, but as bacteria decompose sweat, ammonia and fatty acids are released, causing a bad odor on the skin.  This is bromhidrosis.

Causes of bromhidrosis

  • Secretions are naturally sterile and should not have an odor, but bacteria cause them to smell.
  • It occurs when secretions from the apocrine sweat glands in the armpits are broken down by gram-positive bacteria on the skin surface.  Additionally, sweat secretions can accumulate in hair and clothing, which can worsen the symptoms.
  • Eccrine sweat glands, another sweat gland located in the armpits, occur when bacteria or fungi act on the stratum corneum of the skin that has softened due to excessive secretion of the eccrine sweat glands.
  • Apocrine sweat glands develop after puberty because they begin secreting sweat during puberty.
  • Eccrine sweating mainly occurs on the soles of the feet or armpits and can be caused by hyperhidrosis.  Especially in the armpits, it often occurs in people with diabetes or obesity.

How to treat apocrine bromhidrosis

  • A method of removing apocrine secretions from the skin surface and inhibiting the growth of bacteria to induce adsorption or change in substances that cause odor.
  • Removing odors using perfume
  • Topical antibiotics also help
  • If these methods are not effective for armpit sweating, surgical resection of the area where the apocrine sweat glands are located is performed.

How to treat eccrine bromhidrosis

  • Wash regularly and treat fungal infections if they occur.
  • Using topical treatments to suppress excessive sweating in the armpits
  • Consider surgery, too

Ways to prevent bromhidrosis

  • Hair Removal: Laser hair removal destroys hair follicles while also destroying the apocrine glands around the hair follicles.  Destroys the source of odor.  In the case of shaving or waxing, the apocrine glands themselves are not destroyed, so the odor eventually disappears slightly and then reappears.
  • Eating habits: Eating high-fat or high-calorie foods worsens odor.  High-calorie foods promote the secretion of hormones that promote sweat gland secretion.
  • Other methods: Using products with antibacterial properties can help relieve armpit sweat, frequently washing the armpits with soap, and spraying heat rash powder.
